What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

This Guy Can Really Sweep A Girl Off Her Feet

So, I guess you could say the secret to a happy marriage is...

 Clean living.

Thanks to Devrie H. for reminding us men aren't always such a chore.

I'm in love with you

Does this mean that the bride is a witch (with or without the capital B)?

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterZippy

lol..that pic of Horatio reminds me of a novel I read recently where the sheriff hero takes off his glasses with two hands and the kids who idolize him start copying him. The heroine teases him about it and he tells her he uses two hands to save wear and tear on the hinges. :)

As for the cake...it could have been worse - they could have said "Gride and Broom" and then we'd have a bunch of noise in addition to the clean house..

Ugh, I hate that guy with the tilted head and the cheesy one-liners which is why I don't watch CSI Miami. Gag me with a spoon!

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSarah

that makes the groom bristle....

@Sharyn: funny! well done!

Edible paper? Check!
Congratulations spelled correctly? Check!
Inscription for the happy couple? NAILED IT!

@Sharyn and Haiku Joy ~ hahahahahahahahaha

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJodee

First thing I saw was 'Gorgratulations' at the top of the cake. I guess that does make it a clean sweep of a wreck.

One of those that you can almost hear the voice inside the bakers head... "Should it be bride and groom? or groom and bride? bride and groom? groom and bride? ahh shoot I just spent 5 minutes thinking on this and the edible print is done... *starts lettering* hmm, bride and groom or groom and bride, hmmm I wonder what I should make for supper...."

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered Commentersam

Ha ha, love it, Sharyn!

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMelanie

You forgot the, "YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!"

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBADKarma

Thanks, Jen. I think I am developing Scopthoratiophobia, which is the fear of Horatio staring at me.

Off Topic: I've been gone...how long now? The days blur a bit. FIL went in for liver cancer surgery, which went well. Now he's in ICU with sepsis. I'm glad I can come here for a few laughs. I need them right about now.

My son used to say Broom instead of groom when he was, oh, three years old, but he figured out how to say it correctly before kindergarten. Yikes.

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterr.stitzel@comcast.net

invita verum dixit: it's basically bride and bride. the groom merely exists as the token whereby the bride asserts her superiority to another woman, usually her mother or best friend. once one understands that this is the basis of all human social interactions, human behavior begins to make a lick of sense.

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterkhereva

Sharynand Haiku joy BWAHAHAHAHA to the baker, I weep if that is one of the best and brightest

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

That decorator really got swept up in the excitement of the occasion.

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterHannah

I have yearned to have a lawfully wedded Broom ... or is that awfully wedded Broom? Regardless, it is my heart's desire(isn). :)

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterStephanie S.

Now, Jen, please don't make me... (*puts on sunglasses*) fly off the handle.

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterChocolateMouse

The cake must have been ordered from Walmart.

But, Guise! What if the guy was a professional curler?! Maybe he's a sweeper.. maybe a 2nd or a 3rd?? And before you ask, YES that is the first thing I thought of and YES I am Canadian. Shut up.

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterFox

If these were a couple of curlers getting married, this would actually be pretty funny!

@Fox: Lol

Todd VanSlyck:

That. Was. Horatio.

=^-.-^= {~and you can take that to the cool...}

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

@Gerard:
I couldn't get that link to work (whatever is right after the "3" wouldn't stick). (?)

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

Heck, the bride darn near didn't even *make* it onto the cake. Maybe the decorator was an old flame???

And, @JustAndrea, I hope Mr. Andrea is feeling better and better every day. (((hugs))) - You sound as if you could use a few!

Wait, what if 'Broom' is some sort of shorthand for 'brother-groom'. He's not just her brother, he's also the groom, hence, 'Broom'.

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKelley

@Just Andrea - hugs and prayers for your family. Laughter is the best medicine.

I also thought the cake said, "Gorgratulations" But I am impressed that at least, if you REALLY look at it, it is correctly spelled. Gride & Broom would have been funnier!

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDorene

OH NO NO PUNS LEFT WHAT SHALL I DO?!

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterStoich91

Hahahaha.... I made that mistake - when I was about six years old! I thought it was "bride and broom," because I didn't know what a groom was and I did know what a broom was.

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterShanti

I am too tired tonight to think of anything witty. So I will say to Just Andrea, I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Please keep us posted!

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterTLC

@Just Andrea: keeping you and your FIL and families in my thoughts and prayers, and sending hugs and good thoughts your way....

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered Commentermel

Two of my curling teammates did get married. Their cake looked somewhat like this one: http://tinyurl.com/kpsx8v8

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterGerard

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterkira

@Todd VanSlyck that was so very slick! LMAO

@Sharyn WOW

@Fox hey, at least you made sense of it! ;)

@Just Andrea ((HUGS)) and welcome home

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara Anne

@JustAndrea - glad that your FIL made it through the surgery and so sorry he has sepsis. Sending hugs and healing thoughts your family's way.

October 9, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterZippy

Wonder what the broom thought about all of this? Lol. Man I hope they cut that cake and quickly before the bride to be saw it and started hitting wreckerators.

October 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

I imagine the, er, Broom will give the Bride-that-was a cake for their anniversary, inscribed with "To my wonderful wipe".

October 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSkeptic

Horatio Sunglasses Meme FTW.

October 10, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterVinemaple

@Haiku Joy, Merry from Annie's Book Stop/Sharon MA, Dorene, TLC, mel, Barbara Anne, Zippy and all of my CW family: thank you so much for the prayers, thoughts, hugs and well wishes. Last update on FIL was he is doing a bit better, but still in ICU. @Barbara Anne, it really does feel like home here. Thank you.

Alright, enough of that touchy-feely-self-help-yoga crap, time for some laughs. Off to catch up on what I've missed the last week or so...
