The next to last one, with the weathered horseshoes, is *beautiful*, but it goes against horseshoe tradition. Horseshoes are supposed be hung in the "up" position, so that they hold the luck that they supposedly bring. Turn them over, and all the luck runs out! LOL

Yes the horse shoe thing bugs me too! Especially on a wedding cake, you wouldn't want all you luck to run out!

Came here to say the same thing: if you know enough about horseshoes to put them on a wedding cake, why would you put them upside down? And I have to say, I wouldn't want to eat that last cake in public, because you know the black is going to get all over your teeth. Beautiful for looking, not so much for eating.
The first cake though, with the child's age (6) created out of rope....spectacular!
I cannot imagine paying a lot of money for this kind of work of art and then cutting it apart and eating it! I do not are how good the cake is inside, they are just too gorgeous.

I was going to mention the horse shoes. Not the best place to put the luck runs out design. Beautiful otherwise. Love the horseheads topper.
So ruggedly beautiful & perfect timing for my neck of the woods. Here in Tucson, Arizona it's Rodeo Week! Our kids had this past Thursday & Friday off school for the local rodeo (Fiesta De Los Vaqueros) instead of Presidents Day like the rest of the country. We also boast the longest non-motorized parade in the country, as all rodeo parade vehicles are pulled by horses. So thanks for putting the perfect bookend to our Rodeo Week tradition out here amongest the cacti! Yeehaw!

@Pamtha: This is just a guess, but maybe the cake is a for a baby-shower, and the baby-to-be's name is Garrett? The "Mom-to-be" silhouette does look a little paunchy in the belly. =^-.-^=?
Oh, the BOOT! Oh! Oh! Oh! As a closet cowboy (I live in the UK - I have no chance!), I treated myself to two pairs of proper embroidered cowboy boots whilst on holiday in Texas the year before last and I just WANT THAT CAKE!!!
Wow all of the cakes are gorgeous. The second to last one doesn't even look like it's cake. I'm just lucky to be able to make a cake without burning it let alone turning it into a work of art.
I was wondering the same thing about Garrett's cake. who's the cowgirl? I don't think it's his mom.

Movie mom....happy rodeo day from Kissimmee Fl. We had Friday off for the 132st (a little cake wreck lingo) silver spurs rodeo. We also don't take off Presidents' Day so that we can celebrate Rodeo Day! I had no idea that we had a sister city.

Hey, this has nothing to do with the cakes today, but I just wanted to tell you that I really have enjoyed following both of your blogs the last few years, and you seem like a lovely person. I have enjoyed quite a few good laughs because of your efforts, and the Sunday cakes, as well as your Epbot blog are fun to read and see. I am in AWE of the boot. Incredible.
So I had also heard the horseshoe/luck theory of hanging horseshoes. However my roommate in college hung hers down like these. When I asked her she was quite adamant that they really should be hung her way. Apparently her family had always hung them downward over a door so that the luck dripped out on your head as you went through the door.
Ah - well for Garrett's mom - wow I wish I had looked that good at my baby shower. I don't think my ankles would have allowed me to wear cowboy boots. Cakes like these make me want to have another wedding or more babies. The missed opportunities!!!!!! Curse you Sunday Sweets & Pinterest!
