What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Come Again?

Sometimes I think bakers do this kind of thing on purpose:

Other times, I can only hope:

o.0

Thanks to Katrina P., Shannon H., & Kristy Y. for sticking it out.

Sung to "Misty"

Look, Andy is adept at licking things
As you can see
And I won't read that next word aloud
I can't understand
How you suck just leading the band...

Do you know Sharna? Shaman? Sharnon?
Well anyway, do you know her? From what I hear, that cake is NOT a mistake.

Time to get cozy.
Turn up the fire and put on
Freudian slippers.

I am now imagining the monsters from Where the Wild Things Are doing a Hans and Frans skit. "We are here to suck *clap* it out!"

I can feel the brain cells crashing and dying as I look. Thank God it's Friday, and I have the weekend to recover. And Sunday Sweets to revive them.

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterTLC

And when they say, "Yood Lick," you know *exactly* what they mean. They mean, "You suck." Or something like that. On second thought, maybe they mean "I failed cursive and/or spelling in third grade."

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSPhilp

OK, the first two I understand. Unfortunate slips of the icing tip, but I get what they were going for. But the third... What in the prompted THAT? A really encouraging member of a gasoline-stealing ring? Someone got bitten by a venomous snake and this was commissioned to commemorate the rough first aid? Something even weirder? PLEASE some explanation before I lose what little sanity I have left...

WTF is with the last cake D: :/

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

Good luck, stick it out. =D The latter could be easily taken out of context even without bad cursive. XD

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJen

@SaraCVT: Well, your mind is obviously squeaky clean, my dear. Your first thought was a gasoline-stealing ring and first aid? I am ashamed to say I could not even think of what the baker was SUPPOSED to have written until I saw Jen's closing line. The only reason I thought it was an actual mistake and not some dirty cake talk was the incongruity of the inscription with the children's book picture. I am actually quite relieved.

I can only hope the last one was supposed to be "You stuck it out." ie, you persevered.

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAnnaB

My *guess* on the last one is that it was supposed to be "You stuck it out". You endured, you braved the monsters, you won in the end.

Because I truly don't want to know what prompted it if that wasn't a mistake.

As someone who learned cursive at a young age AND with an L as her last initial, it took me a while to get the second cake. That's definitely a [very] badly done cursive L. Once you see the second meaning, you can't unsee it. :P

Is it just me, or do those fancy script G's always look more like a Y, or a J?
Yood? Jood?

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterCarlz

I like the last cake but I'm just not sure what the monsters from Where The Wild Things Are are supposed to suck out.

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara

I like how the first one has a sticker on it that says, "Good for any occasion."

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterchickenTina

The correct spelling is "you'd" not "yood" and I would want to see Shannon (?) before I know if I'd want to *uck her.

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterpikkewyntjie

@SuBee ~ bhahahahahaha

Thanks guys. I needed this today. Anybody know where I can find the illusive "they"? You know, the ones who say stupid things like "It gets easier"? I'd really like to find them and either beat them to a bloody pulp or make them tell me the date and time this whole thing gets easier because let me tell ya, anxiety attacks SUCK!!! Or maybe the word I'm looking for is up there on that second cake?

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJodee

Haiku Joy, that's my favorite Haiku yet!!

Max is sucking--
On what we don't know.
Could be on a bottle
Or on someone's toe.

Good Luk to Andrew
Oh what does that mean?
Accented with sprinkles
And hideous green.

Oh my dear Shannon!
You must fit the bill.
To merit a f*** cake
Takes copious skill!

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJodi

Well it ain't gonna suck itself out....-_^

October 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAddy

the second to last one is a cursive "g". . . obsucured by roses, and a little over zealous on that second swoop maybe, but still a "g"

October 12, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterjw

If this was the $10,000 Pyramid game I would be guessing, "Things you would find written on the men's room wall." Hee hee!

October 12, 2013 | Unregistered Commentersandy

Lol at the second cake. Oh dear. I honestly hope they had a great chuckle over it because if that had been my cake my dad would have tossed it at the wreckerator. That in itself would probably be a bad but hilarious thing lol.

October 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

I think the last one ruined my whole childhood...or at least really confused it...

October 12, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterdolphin

Is that last one supposed to say stuck it out? And the second one looks like Food, not Good.

October 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDis fan

The last cake is my sisters cake she got from her husband for their wedding anniversary. He meant to say "you stuck it out" but instead she got this beauty. She reads Cakewrecks all the time so I'm so happy it made it on the site!

October 12, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterNikkinu

Why can't some people do what grade threes can do, write and spell?

October 13, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBea

Regarding the second cake: Yes. Yes, I would.
