What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Wreckage Of Unusual Size

In honor of one of the greatest movies of all time, I'd like to tell you a story.

It's a story of the man in black:

Who may or may not look like the Noid from those old Domino's commercials.

And also a beautiful princess:

It's a tale of fencing and fighting,

of torture and despair,

"I've just sucked one year of your life away.
Now I need a glass of milk."

...of chases, escapes, and, of course, twoo wuv.

Also known as "Twoo huv"

There's also a subplot of a son avenging his father's murder.

"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to... What's this? A cake?"

"Oooh, are those cherries?
I mean, uh...
Prepare to die.
And also pass me that fork over there."

Together, our heroes will defeat an evil prince, a wily Sicilian, a six-fingered man...

and, of course, Rodents Of Unusual Size.

"Hi."

"Btw, you may want to watch out for those popping noises. Trust me."

Bye bye, Jennifer B., Emily M., Jefferey W., Colin & Jen, Jan Y., Jennifer W., Nicole V., Rysha M., & Melanie H.! Have fun storming the castle!

Oh, and before I go: Anybody want a peanut?

I always LOVE TPB references. ALWAYS. Thank you for my morning chuckle!

Does the peanut cake say Happy "21 + tax Birthday Desiree?" Haha! Now I want a cake that says my age + tax just to confuse everyone. I don't have parties for my birthday, but I would just to confuse people!

No more rhymes now, I mean it!

(Fun fact: my grandmother once got to meet Andre the Giant, and at exactly 5” high, she came up to...his bellybutton. Which she was very self-conscious about, always being touchy in the matter of her height, but he was so incredibly sweet to her, she at last gave up her embarrassment and hugged him, as best she could. Both my grandmother and Andre are gone now, but the story is too delightful to be forgotten. Much like The Princess Bride.)

Does that cake actually say "Sorry about your dead dad"? Or does it say "Sorry about your dead dnd"? I can't tell and I'm really hoping its not the former because I can't think of any circumstances in which that cake wouldn't be insensitive at the least.

As English people no doubt know, the only true Hove is a seaside town on the coast of the English Channel...

That peanut... I've never seen that much attitude before.

I want another TPB quote along show at Alamo Drafhouse Theater but with all these cakes and y'all there.

I realize that I may be alone in this, but...I sorta think that the thing of Unusual Size is cute. Even though the pig nose is a little, well, gross.

I hate to say it, but the Beautiful Princess looks, well, mostly dead, to me.

TPB rules.

I have a weakness for anything with a good Princess Bride reference, especially now that I'm reading Cary Elwes' book. :)

January 29, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterMelissa

The beautiful princess looks dead to me, too-especially as her arms have been cut off. Love the references!

Oh man I am dying here. Hilarious and scary at the same time. Wreckerators really outdid themselves this time.

January 30, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterCarina

January 30, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterKatherine

you missed a perfectly good opportunity to use "i'm not a witch, i'm your wife" on a witch cake

January 30, 2018 | Unregistered Commentermegan

so what was the occasion for the giant rodent cake????

January 30, 2018 | Unregistered Commenterlibby

So, my husband and I use ROUS for all rats because if you think about it..... it could stand for Rodents of USUAL size as well.......... Just sayin'

January 30, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterKelly

I agree! The thing of unusual size is cute, in a wreckesh kind of way. Now I want a cake with a real flame spurt!

January 30, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterSherryq

These are my favourite cakes in all the world, though I have never eaten them.

January 30, 2018 | Unregistered Commenterdr handle

Carina the capybara is a rodent and it is three feet long. Don't be scared though. It lives in South America.
