But Where are the Blue Birds?
August 8, 2017 So Dawn W. was throwing a Wizard of Oz cast party, and she knew better than to order anything as complicated as a Yellow Brick Road cake. So instead, she simply asked for a cake with "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on it.
Now, if you've read this blog for any time at all, then you're probably expecting the same thing I was - an inscription that looks like this:

I'm pleased to report that's NOT what happened. No, Dawn received something far more...colorful.

At first I thought the decorator was just being clever, but then I noticed the "Somewheres".
Yeah.
Well, there went that theory.

Oh, that would make a great T-shirt! Assuming the spelling error was fixed, and actual rainbows colors were used, that is. I'd love to have one!

I was also reading it as "somewhereo". As in, somewhereo the rainbow.
A rare case of the wreck being clever and more attractive than what was ordered. If not for the awkward extra S (and poor writing) this would be a very appealing wreck.
I just keep hearing in my head "Boss, whaddaya want me to put on this cake?" "She said 'somewheres over the rainbow', didn't she? Put 'somewheres' over a rainbow! Geesh, do I gotta do ALL the thinking 'round here? Use poiple, too--dames like dat. And don't call me 'Boss'." "Sorry, Bugsy."

And what happens when you run Somewhere Over the Rainbow through Google Translate a dozen or so times?
That's got "F*ck it, my shift is over. I"m going home." written all over it.
Why is it so hard to get the colors of the rainbow right???

Oh my goodness... I always love mistake cakes as this one is. Sometimes communication is not clear and a client will receive something completely unwanted. Sometimes it is funny to see these photos, though. Clear communication is always key!
