What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

In Which We Are Very, Very Sincere

It's National "Write A Letter Of Appreciation" Week, so let's take a moment to address those who make all of this possible: the bakers.

[cues sappy violin music]
[turns to face camera]
[looks very,
very sincere]

Thank you, Bakery Wreckerator, for making every chocolate swirl look like poo:

For making cupcake cakes (patooie!) look more like ding-dongs:

For your consistent, unrealistic, and yet kind of awesome boob-to-belly ratios:

Dream on, Mama.

Thank you for never, EVER, calling to double check an order:

...especially when you can just slap a question mark on the end and call it good.

Thank you for standing firm in your belief that this is how to spell "birthday:"

Or this:

Or this:

Or this:

Whatever. It's not like you'll need to use that word much, anyway.

But most of all, Bakery Wreckerator, we want to thank you for that big smiling face:

It's literally the best.

And thanks also to Griffin, Robert W., Samantha G., Dave, Heather S., Ivy W., Lisa B., Stefanie F., & Anony M., who, out of alllll our wreckporters, are literally the most recent.

Thank you for using our Amazon links to shop! USA, UK, Canada.

Is it weird that this post made me a little excited because for the first time EVER I actually see something that has my name spelled the way I spell it? Kinda like finding that lone sticker in the gift shop that says Melonie instead of Melanie. Even if it is a wreck, it still makes me a little giddy. Day made. Thank you.

2nd( image: "AHhh....a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet....(etc., by. W.S.)....
But Hark! What has risen here is no rose...No.....it appears to be a pickle...made of dough!
A dill dough.
Wilt thou pluck it, Romeo?

Some people are just too stupid to breathe.

I can't stop laughing.

Happy Birtlday, Barthday, Birday... OMG. My fave is the "smiling face" with ALL the different colors as well as the blue icing "text" drifting onto the 'smilin' face' ... gotta love it. This Wreckorator is an ARTIST!

The Golden Retriever in wreck #4, left his opinion of these lovely cakes over on wreck #1.

I believe the 2nd one is Mr. Spock's "ding-dong".

Bahahahahaha :D

Actually, I don't think that's a question mark on the dog cake - "Mach" followed by a number is a term I see a lot in dog agility rankings. It should most likely have said "Mach 7". Still an awful decorating attempt. How hard is it to draw a dog or a dog bone? What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterLisa

I appreciate your comment, Sendingtheclowns! LOL

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

Why are the boobs different sizes?! Such vastly different sizes! Mean it'd make sense if she'd had baby and was nursing, but?

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterAmanda

Yesterday was my birthday and tomorrow is my sister's, so I'm pretty sure you made this post just for me. By the way, if anyone is looking to surprise me with a late birthday gift, the Mach 7 Golden Retriever sounds AWESOME!

"birtlday" is my favorite

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered Commenterigorina

This actually made me wonder: are there actually any cakes out there that use a chocolate frosting and make some kind of swirl WITHOUT looking like poo? As in, could you do a chocolate Sunday Sweets that shows the proper way to do a chocolate swirl??

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

"Bantħday."

"BanUnday?"

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterR3test

I want to have a BIrtl day, that sounds like fun.

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterShirley

Happy Birlhay indeed.

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterRobbie

OMG!! I sent in the preggo belly cake! I know where that's from! This is AMAZING.

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterFourEyedBaker

OMG! THAT"S *MY* CHOCOLATE SWIRL I SENT IN AGES AGO!!!!! THANK YOU so much Jen, you have made my life complete.

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterTyler

Happy Birday....how 'bou daa !

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterGayle

I saw the thumbnail on face book and literally could not tell what the belly/boobs picture was until I came here and read your caption. I thought it was 3 burgers with a slice of American cheese melted on the top of each. It was a disgusting thought...

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterKimberly R

Birtlday!

That's it. Next time I level up in age I'm calling it my birtlday.

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterKai Lowell

That first birthday misspelling, in the blue icing - I wonder what name "Vaxun" was actually meant to be. At least the didn't stuff up "Ash". 😁

March 2, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterJudanne

Oh man now I can't unsee the uh dong shape on what I guess was supposed to be a flower CCC lmao. And to the person that referred to it as Mr. Spock's I am still trying to stop laughing that was priceless oh man...

March 3, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Judanne, the "Vaxun" is actually "Varun." It's a common Indian name. So that part is actually ok. Sort of!

March 3, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterDeepa

Finally, a pregnant belly cake that makes me laugh, rather than wish to never need to eat again. The lack of horrific, embossed “let me out!” hand and foot indentations helps. Also (switches to Obscure Movie Geek mode), it reminds me of the inflatable bras from The Bliss of Mrs. Blossom.

March 3, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterMike

I keep looking at the boobs & belly cake and trying to figure out why it has the word "BENT" with an arrow pointing to the "delivery zone"...

March 4, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterSumatradc

Cake #1 - the very worst cake ever posted on Cake Wrecks. EVAR.

Also, Amanda? As to differing sizes? It happens.I know.

March 5, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterNanalettie

On the Golden Retriever cake, MACH is Master Agility Champion. It is a big deal and to achieve it seven times is a very, very big deal.
Then again, it could be a misspelling.

March 6, 2017 | Unregistered Commenterbetsie

There's nothing wrong with the "Mach 7" part of the golden retriever cake, unless you want to get fussy about upper and lower case. It's more the part above it:

Dog or Dog Bones? ..
Golden Retriever

I expect the customer wanted a *decoration* of a dog (preferably a golden retriever) or of some dog bones...

March 16, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterSacha

I make a motion that Happy Birtlday now be the official greeting of the return of the day of your birtl!

Any seconds?
