What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets Makes Some Realistic Resolutions

Every year I make a bunch of well-meaning resolutions, and every year, by about January 15th, I find myself searching under my bed for stray M&Ms so I can avoid looking at that huge pile of laundry on my treadmill.

This year, I'm going to make resolutions I can keep!

In 2017, I will:

Throw birthday parties for my pets.

(By Sugar High)

...and their friends.
(The bunny just makes the height requirement.)

See the Doctor regularly.

(By The Cookie Cowgirl)

💗💗

Eat more balanced meals.

(By Laura Loukaides Cakes)

I like this latest version of the food pyramid.

Catch up on important reading.

(By Joanna Rose)

This'll be good for the first week.

Become an artist.

(By Inticing Creations)

Or at least buy a coloring book.

Do some crunches.

(By Inspired Sugar)

You can't do just one!

Stop and smell the flowers.

(By Caking It Up)

Then keep an eye out for fairy doors.

Do something about this hedgehog:

(By Helen Alborn Cakes)

Specifically, look at it and squeal a whole lot.

Spend less time on social media, even if I have to dismantle it one piece at a time.

(By Sweet and Swanky Cakes)

Well, it says to slice it.

and...

Take the time to appreciate something beautiful at least once a week.

(By Maggie Austin Cake)

Like, maybe pretty cakes on Sundays. Yeah, that sounds like a plan...

Happy New Year! I hope your resolutions are attainable and your 2017 is SWEET.

OMG that food cake is awesome :D, as are the potato chips. The hedgehog is just adorable, and needs to be a plushie :D

Yes, the hedgehog is squeal-worthy. But that tower of food is amazing...I'm drooling here. And I'm hungry.

Well-written commentary for well-made cakes!

Those must be some large-print editions. My volumes of Pride and Prejudice and A Wizard of Earthsea weren't nearly so big.

What manner of sorcery is that stacked food cake??? I cannot stop staring at the pancakes. Or that hedgehog. Or those poppies (poppies! poppies!).

Every one of these was my favorite. However -- that cake with all the food. What ... how ... they .... I ... don't know how in the world they created something so life-like. Or how many hours it must have taken them. Truly an awesome piece of art.

The last cake is beautiful! I must be in the minority, because I don't understand making cakes that look like other food.

Finally! A list of resolution suggestions I can do!

I feel like the person who ordered the book cake and I would be BFFs.

Oh, the hedgehog! So fat and cute!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hope your year is filled with cake'y and geeky dreams come true! Thank you both for the great updates here and on Epbot. :D

These were all just stuck in the freezer to be taken out and admired, then put back in, right? How could anyone cut into them?

For sheer beauty the last cake is magnificent! But the hedgehog and the multi-food cakes are adorable too. These are resolutions we all can keep.

I think the food tower cake could be made with the actual foods it's simulating! Somebody please try it!

Regarding the book cake, it's lovely and all but I couldn't help but think to myself, "Oh, if only A Wizard of Earthsea were that long!" It always seems to be over well before I'm done reading it. Must be the annotated version.

I really like the "see the Doctor regularly", even though I have not actually watched the Dr. Who series. I am surprised that, as of this moment, everyone else is talking abut the other tour de force cakes, like the food pyramid (which is mind-boggling).

I resolve to come to Cakewrecks often! (Unfortunately, my neighborhood Interwebs must have been hungover from too much NYE partying because I couldn't get online yesterday.)
I agree that Miss Hermione Hedgehog NEEDS to be a plushie and that the food tower is amazing!

Well, I'm glad SOMEONE is finally doing something about hedgehogs! Nasty, vicious little predators... you can just see, that one's a killer! You may not know, scholars believe the feared Rabbit of Caerbannog was really a hedgehog. It seems an errant bloodstain caused the Old Welsh "Arghitbitmyfinger", for "hedgehog", to be read "Awdacutumsfuzzy", for "rabbit".

A coloring book! Yes! When do we get a Cake Wrecks coloring book?
