What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Get Your Red Pens Ready, Teachers

Teachers, this is your week - but what can I say about you unsung heroes that hasn't already been said?

I mean, in relation to teaching?

Ahahahahhahahaha! Ahah. Ha. Yeeeah.

Ahem.

Look, teachers, you know how much we need you.

Heck, just a quick jaunt around this blog makes it painfully obvious.

So please, let me just be the latest of many to say:

We REALLY need more of you art teachers out there.

I mean, really. This is just SAD.

And also: Thank you, teachers. Please don't ever leave us. Because if you've secretly been banding together to send in all these cakes showing how much we need you, well...

Thanks to Christina, Jane B., Kahre B., Jennifer B., Leah P., Laura K., Erin, & McKenzie A. for taking us to school.

Thank you for using our Amazon links to shop! USA, UK, Canada.

I think it's two owls face to face. I hope.

[Editor's note- Yup. You're right. Didn't see that. Changed it for a weird giraffe. Luckily, I'm spoiled for choice when it comes to ugly cakes. :) -john (the preventor of Owlgate)]

Hot For Teecher

Just think of all the education that they’ve missed
There’s simply no excuse for spelling such as this
Their spelling’s bad, spelling’s bad, spelling’s bad
Don’t blame a teecher
Their grammar’s bad, so bad
Don’t blame a techur

Yeah, that's two owls smoochin'. :3

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterHirayuki

Well, at least they managed to use "it's" appropriately.

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterLady Anne

But there's nothing wrong with the owl one. The spelling is perfect...

I agree-- two owls kissing, and kind of cute.

Two owls kissing or having an epic staring contest?

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMisti

:O we need to step up our education game STAT!!!!

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

Huh. Now I want to see the two owls cake you guys are talking about. :)

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterJodi

Now I want to see the taken-down owl cake.

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterClassic Steve

Now you know the rest of us want to see those owls! I usually manage to see CW just as it's posted. Not today. Stupid work that had to be done on time today!

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterAngelaS

Hmmmm. Something's happening here... What it is ain't exactly clear...There's a man with a cake over there, telling me I've got to beware. Guess it's time to stop, bakers! Watch us frown! Everybody look! What's burning down? ...FRANKLY, these aren't THAT horrid, compared to some that've registered higher on the gagometer. Still, I think I'll pass on the third one that's decorated with relish, ketchup, and barbeque sauce. Unless they can toss a few potato chips on it....! =^-.-^=

I was cracking up when I logged on because on the right sidebar is a Blogher Foodie ad with a word misspelled not once but TWICE! It's not a funny condition, but the fact that the person misspelled Psoriasis made me laugh out loud! What a perfect spoof for your cakewrecks post on spelling. Was that intentional? It looked like a snake had made the ad. "Yesssssss my prrrrritty, Ve can ssssssaaaaavvve you with fooooood!"

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterBeth

I can't decide if the giraffe has too many lopsided eyes, or no eyes at all. Hmmmm - dilemmas.

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterKimS

Despite the bad spelling on "Scool's (sic) out for summer!" I do like the penmanship (frostingmanship?)

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterJennifer

SuBee wins the internet again! Thanks for the giggles!

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterStLMetroMom

What's a complished?

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterJennifer

I love owls, but I did not get to see them, please bring them back!!!

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterAlison in Indiana

Hey, at least the Ghostes are in cheerful, pastel colors, and resemble reasonably respectable balloons...

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterBADKarma

I teach pre-k (4- and 5-year olds), and even they know to write "2nd". I've never had a student say or write "2ed", and they could tell you that makes no sense!

Honestly, I'd expect better penmanship from my students than what I'm seeing on most of these cakes, which are made by adults who supposedly have at least a high school level grasp of English. Now, as far as artistic skills, the giraffe CCC (patooie!) is definitely pre-k level.

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMSTeacher3K

The only reason I'm at the "Comments" is because I couldn't understand what was wrong with the giraffe cake. Glad to know it's not just me!

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterWynter

I kinda like the giraffe like thing...

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMarybeth King

Maybe this is a call for year-round schools....with an emphasis on reading and writing!

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterKyle

Bring back the owl cake that others are talking about. I arrived late to the party today!

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterKyle

Send in the owls!

May 2, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMaryO1230

Now I wish I had seen the owl cake thing lol. Ah well that giraffe at least sort of looked like one. The rest of these are probably making teachers weep right now lol poor teachers.

May 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Did the owls fly away?

May 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterNobodee Home

The giraffe isn't that bad. I've seen better, or worse, or whichever it is here.

Now I'm wondering what the owls looked like. :-(

May 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterBea

It's nice to know that one is supposed to celebrate a ghost infestation with cake and balloons. Who knew? So for a termite infestation, I guess I can get one of those sliced log cake stands, but what to do for decorations?

May 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterAl the K

Not a great giraffe, but I do believe it is looking askance and is in 3/4 perspective. The spot on the right of its face is its nose. They simply forgot that giraffes have snouts!

May 3, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterBriana

A rare owls-kissing EPCOT and I missed the subject! Something I really give a hoot about, too.

#1 Maybe you don't have 'ghostes', but do you have brightly-colored figs? Did you know brightly-colored figs grow on vines? You learn something every day.

#2 ...But it is too late to change random capitalization, spacing issues and lack of awareness of 'too'. Was this a note to the customer, perchance?

#3 I have no idea what "yow'er" means, just like I have no idea what acorns have to do with turning 40.

#4 Poor Matt caught the wreckorator on a bad day -- they were running out of lower-case 'a' and 't', so they had to improvise. (If a wreckorator has a bad day, do they do everything right?)

#5 If you don't know what ordinal suffix to use for a number below ten, just make one up. No one will notice. Heh heh.

#6 A true Alice Cooper fan -- they got the 'h' out.

#7 You have to admire the creativity and compassion of some wreckorators. Not satisfied with the standard not-close-to-being circular objects that are normally attempted in CCC, they decided to depict the horrific suffering of giraffe goiter.

I know it's apparently a difficult word to spell, but how does *anybody* come up with "Congrdulots"?
