What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

The Best Literal LOLs Of 2016

Everyone's calling 2016 the great Dumpster Fire of history, but lets be rational, minions: that's hardly fair to dumpsters OR fires.

Besides, even though lots of bad things happened this year, and even though we've lost way too many of our favorite celebrities, let's not forget that 2016 ALSO gave these cake fans exactly what they asked for:

"Because we want to really emphasize the 40 part. Women love that."

And finally, as it turns out, they actually CAN make a cake look exactly like your picture:

Cake-ception!

Thanks to Andy W., Phyllis M., Chris T., Margaret S., Sue M., Sylvia C., & Sarah O. for giving 2016 a photo finish.

To be entirely fair, the "Chris on Both" ones are Costco cakes and I'm pretty sure you have to - or at least are supposed to - fill out a separate form for each cake. And the customer fills out the form. The decorator who gets the form for Cake 1 might not be the same as for Cake 2, so if you write "Chris on Both" on each form, then that's exactly what they're going to put on each cake.

The double-frosted words on cookie cakes always kills me. They didn't just write the doofy phrase once - but twice! - and didn't think it sounded off??? Oy.

Every day, your captions and/or comments make me snort with laughter!
I'm looking forward to more hilarity in 2017.

OMG Cake-ceptions they put the Cake Company card on the cake. Who taught this decorator? The need to be fired.

Damn, even ugly cakes look good when you have a sweet tooth!

Thing is, because only the spelling was wrong those cakes look quite good.....I WANT ONE!

To be fair, #4 has so much flotsam on it that there is hardly room for any writing.

There should be a line of t-shirts with "Make [your age] bigger" on them. Substituting the actual number for the words in brackets, of course. No one will have any idea what it means, but that's part of the fun.

Sadly I must comment on the state of this year and it's hate of humanity, not only did Carrie Fisher die yesterday her mother just died of a stroke this afternoon. This year just has no mercy!

As for these cakes, everything about them is sad and funny at the same time. It makes me wonder just what brain cells get switched off to allow these things to keep happening. This leads me to wonder how long before we get a picture of the last cake on the top of another cakeā€¦even more ironic if it's a dreaded CCC!

Once again, if people didn't feel compelled to write on a cake, these would all be acceptable. But then, we wouldn't have anything to prompt laughter.

...

I can't even laugh at these any more. The utter stupidity has become just too depressing.

I thought the birthday cakes were pretty until I read happy birthday chris on beth or bath I couldn't really tell lol. Other than that they were well done.

Don't blame the decorator at all, blame the idiot customer who filled out the form wrong. They might have even PAID extra for the extra lettering. And some minimum-wage slave is supposed to drop everything, get behind in their work, and probably have to go through the hassle of refunding some of your money, all just to fix your mistake? Nope. You told them to write some idiotic phrase on the cake, they're going to write your idiotic phrase on the cake.
