What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Enough Shopping, Let's Have Some Sweets!

"Get your gift shopping done on Black Friday," they said.

"It'll be fun!" they said.

So you set ALL the alarms...

(By Sweet Sugarbelle)

...because early is HARD. I get it.

You grabbed a nutritious breakfast,

(By The Sugar Syndicate, now closed)

...then headed out the door.

And you were a shopping machine, snapping up deals, crossing names off your list!

(By Pink Cake Box)

But now it's two days later, and you've officially - what's that phrase?

Oh, yeah.

HIT A WALL.

(By Jessica Harris Cake Design)

Hey, that's OK!

You got a LOT done this weekend, so now it's YOU time.

First, why not take some aspirin for that headache?

(By I Heart Sprinkles Cookies)

I hear sprinkles help them go down easier.

Maybe you should soothe those muscles in a warm tub.

Come on, you know you love rubber ducks.

Then how about a quick nap?

(By Sylvania Cakes - Exeter via Flickr)

Didn't that help?

Ooh, now grab yourself a glass of wine.

(Created by Connor Jackson, for Craftsy)

Or, sure, two glasses of wine - plus some snacks.

Wait, is there pie? Grab that, too.

(By Laura Loukaides Cakes)

I meant just a slice, but hey, whatever works.

Now, get settled in for a quiet evening on the couch.

(By Catherine's Cakery - no longer in business, links to her Pinterest page)

Ooh, skittles. Good idea.

There, now. Don't you feel better?

Go on, shoot us a selfie, so we can see that restored twinkle in your eyes!

(By Crazy sweets)

[gasp]

Uh, WOW. I mean, uh, it's just... you take my breath away.

Really.
[pause]

Maybe next year you should consider online shopping.

Happy Sunday, everyone! I hope you had a nice, restful weekend!

That owl cake! I laughed so hard that another coughing fit started and I'm sure that's my lung on the floor...hmmm...anyhow, we made the mistake of black Friday shopping.

The pie shaped cake could be SUPER META if it is a cherpumple. http://www.charlesphoenix.com/cherpumple/

And, PLEASE tell me that the Red Bull cake is NOT Red Bull flavored. Even if it is a lie, just tell me it's chocolate or something and I'll feel better.

That wine bottle looks like it's floating in midair!!! How did they do that?!?

Pie-shaped cake - would Dean eat it???

Down Under, 'Black Friday' refers to the 1939 bushfires (wildfires) that burned through the state of Victoria. There was panic, disbelief at the unfolding horror, unheralded scenes of cataclysm, and entire communities were traumatised.

Given what friends in the YouSay have told me about your Black Friday Up There, I can see the resemblance.

I need that owl as a plushie. Now please.

Love the owl cake - that's what I looked like when someone suggest going shopping on Black Friday.

I don't understand why you'd make a cake shaped like a pie. Just make a pie! So confused...

Oh my goodness! The details in each of these are fantastic! I love the texture of the tiles under the pie-cake and those capsule cookies are made with my absolute favorite kind of sprinkles -- the multi-colored nonpareils. And that gravity-defying wine cake. *Sigh*

All through the week I laugh with the wrecky cakes. Than on Sunday I just say, "Wow! Wow!" as I scroll through the wonderful Sunday Sweets! The wine bottle, wow! All the details on the shopping cake, wow! The bathtub cake is so cute! I like the red brick wall because it is so simple and perfect. Three cheers for Sunday Sweets, giving me smiles every week!
