What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Oh bother indeed.....

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

What's with the floating eyeballs on the last one?

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterShirley

I don't know if you are aware that January 18th is A.A. Milne's birthday. (Mine too!)

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterByron Werner

Ok, most of these can be blamed because that plastic flotsam honey looks nasty. The decorating itself isn't bad and the brown icing mostly doesn't have air in it.

But that last cake really had to try and make it look the other way didn't it?

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMelmac

It's mud.

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterAisha

Heh, I dropped something this weekend and said, "Oh bother!" and thought of Winnie the Pooh.

That last one gets the prize for most hideous rendition. What are those random globs of frosting (Or are they misshapen mini marshmallows?) supposed to be? Maybe rocks, but they look like Eyore poops to me.

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterJodi

Good heavens, who ever came up with the notion that Pooh would gleefully roll in his yummy honey?

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterAlison in Indiana

I was curious enough after looking at these wrecks to try and find a pic of the cake showing what it was supposed to "really" look like - Even the original wasn't much better. I swear the person who came up with the idea wasn't thinking - must've been a man! hahaha

Here's the link (sorry, but Amazon was the only location I could find): Winnie-the-Pooh cake topper

Of course, naturally I remembered this after I'd posted my last comment..

@Alison in Indiana - it kinda looks to me like they combined Pooh's love of honey with the time he rolled in mud so he could tie a balloon to himself and float past the honey hive and have the bees think he was a raincloud.

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterLady Kal

I'm with Alison. Pooh should be eating the honey, not getting kinky with it. The honey should be all over his hands and snout. Besides, getting kinky with honey can lead to an embarrassing late night phone call.

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterEoin

Oh Pooh.

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterTrekkie Gal

Winnie is rolling in something that has been disemboweled? I don't remember that from the original books.

I'm really curious about what these were *supposed* to look like.

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterErica

"I'd like to order a Winnie The Pooh cake."

"Certainly, Madam, what did you have in mind?"

"Well, I thought it would be nice if you could depict Pooh rolling around in a pile of turds - Pooh in the poo, so to speak - as a nice visual pun, but I'm a bit worried that something like that will make Great Aunt Muriel have one of her little episodes."

"Might I suggest that, instead of excrement, Madam might consider the bear of very little brain rolling gleefully in a large pile of entrails recently removed whole from an eviscerated corpse? Add a honey pot there as well, Great Aunt Muriel will be none the wiser."

"Oh, that sounds wonderful, can you do that?"

"I believe we may have just the thing..."

*proffers cake #1*

"Oh, it's perfect, I'll take it!"

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered Commenterdr handle

What type of creature has eyeballs floating in their poo and why would Winnie-the-Pooh want to roll in it?

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterKyle

On the third one down, I think the small brown icing blobs are supposed to be leaves from the blustery day. Of course, you know what they look like . . .

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterRoxy Random

What are those chunks in the last picture? Someone needs to get Winnie to a hospital ASAP!

January 18, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterNoelle

Oh man poor Pooh lol. Too much honey made his tummy rumbly and this is what you get. Yuck lol.

January 19, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

I never liked Winnie the Pooh and often called him Winnie the Poop when I was a kid (and think it in my mind EVERY time as an adult). I even sang the song that way. It seems to fit well with this post.

January 19, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterRuth

The second one actually looks alright to me. It looks like Pooh discovered a honey geyser and is rolling in delight. I'm not sure exactly what is going on in that last one though.

January 19, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterTifa

I don't know which I find more disturbing; that someone thought creating this in general was a good idea, or that when I clicked on Lady Kal's link to see the original, it proudly proclaimed there was only one left in stock.

Why? Whhhhhhhyyyyyyyyy?
