What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

This, Not That

Attention, bakers!

Just so you all know:

We want this:

(By Outta the Oven)

Not that:

This:

(By Brenda's Cakes)

Not that:

This:

(By Magical Cakes)

Not that:

And this:

(By Siberina)

Not... BWAHAHAHAAA!

[wiping eyes] Hoo WHEE!

Yeah. Not that.

Thanks to Christina, Dana S., Kris M., & Christal W. for being all that. (Eh? EH??)

UPDATE - As our regular readers know, we strive to keep Cake Wrecks silly and light-hearted, never mean-spirited, so of course we removed the Elsa cake as soon as Icing Smiles (the organization the baker volunteers with) asked us to. Had we known the circumstances behind the cake, we never would have posted it to begin with. (One of our readers submitted the photo after finding it on Facebook, I believe.)

We post funny cakes, but we NEVER direct ridicule toward individual bakers. In fact, we take pains to remove any store labels, just to avoid embarrassing anyone. After all, who hasn't goofed up before? We're here to giggle over silly cakes, not publicly shame anyone.

I can't tell you how much it grieves us to see Ms. Grant on the receiving end of so much ugliness as more news outlets continue to run this story. No one deserves such treatment over a cake, and we wish her only the very best in the future.
