Dolle Drentse Dagen seems to be a festival in Drente in the Netherlands. Over at De Leukste Taarten (The Nicest Cakes) is a post from June of last year about the (a?) winning cake. Also a large gallery of beautiful Easter cakes from last year.

The egg with chicken feet reminded me of an old Foghorn Leghorn cartoon in which F.L. hatches an -I SAY- hatches himself an egg. These historical gems are on the hysterical channel, under youtube...(also filed under "some folks never grow up, or do it under protest").

Yes it was cake, it was five layers of coffee cake with vanilla buttercream and chocolate ganache. Covered in ganache and then sugarpaste. I'm so glad that you like it.

That last cake reminds me of Peter Rabbit's mother from the Beatrix Potter stories. I had a collection of those stories as a kid with the old-timey illustrations. Looks like she stepped right from the pages!

This particular cake was theI can't find the original photo's or any other reference to who the team behind "Dolle Drentse Dagen" (Crazy Drente Days, Drente is a province in the Netherlands) is. I think most of the people on these forums aren't professional bakers.

Hi all, Happy New Year
I was just point out by someone that our Lady Bunny cake was featured here. Thank you so much.
Dolle Drentse Dagen is not an existing event in The Netherlands. It was just the name we gave to a funny and crazy weekend away with 10 baking girls. With 10 bakers we spent a weekend in a luxurious holiday home which had a very well equiped kitchen.
Dolle drentse dagen means: funny/crazy/wild days at Drenthe (province in Holland). We had a great weekend.
We decided to make something cool during this weekend since we had that cool kitchen. We made 3 large Easter Cakes which we donated to the Ronald McDonald Foundation. The homes where families can stay when one of their children is in hospital.
Lady Bunny is one of them and is almost entirely made by one of the bakers, Bianca. She used to own 'Taart by Bianca'. So it is not me who did this entire cake (on this one I did the skirt :-)) but shape and head were all done by Bianca.
The group was partly professional bakers, partly hobby.
