What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Marry Wrecksmas!

After much careful deliberation, I decided to go with a "Merry Christmas" theme today.

You know, like this:

Of course there's also the "Reindeer Patty" theme:

...but that one's kind of crappy.

Now, I know this season has left some of us feeling topsy-turvy...

So just remember: after today, you won't have to hear "Frosty the Snowman" again for a whole 10 months!

But you're still stuck with "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?"

Sorry.

Oh! And no more creepy Santa cakes!

"Soon, Christmas tree. SOOOOON."

And no more asking for this:

And getting this:

So THAT's a relief.

So however and whatever you're celebrating today, may it be extra sweet, a little silly, and filled with all the people you mostly don't want to strangle.

Marry Christmas, wrecky minions.
Or at least take it out for a pity date.

Thanks to Noell, Yvonne M., Dena K., Julie C., Sarah, Valerie, & Karen B. for making our day merry and bridal.

Mary Christmas :P

Merry Christmas! I intend to spend it being sweet, silly, and I'll try not to strangle anyone.

So I guess this means that we'll be seeing all of the leftover, stale, moldy, and Just-Plain-Too-Ugly-To-Be-Sold crap cakes for the entire next year, right? ((YAY!!)) Happy Holidays to Cake Wrecks (and to all a good fright)!
=^~.~^=

Merry Wreckmas to Jen and John (thoj) and the Wrecky team! Thank you so much for another year of chuckles, guffaws, laughs, ewws, exclamations of horror, and other emotions.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSharyn

Heck, at least lots of them were spelled right, including the one that was upside down. Now, that was impressive!

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterHAL

What happened to the corner of cake no. 6? Inquiring minds want to know.

Merry Christmas to my favourite blog EVER! You are the sunshine of my life. Nothing ever looks so bad after I've seen the day's post. Why don't they give a Nobel Prize for humour?

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMorag

Merry Christmas!
Who stole the corner off the reindeer cake, then iced along the edge thinking no-one would notice?!

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterRosa

Just think. All of these will be on the discounted table first thing tomorrow. Wreckiness at a discount tastes better, dontchaknow?!

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSue W.

This site is so educational. I really didn't know reindeer poo is yellow. Not any more appetizing that other poo.

Merry Christmas Jen and John and wrecky minions!

Does no one else wonder why the merry christmas reindeer cake is missing a corner but still has beautiful edging along it?!

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMama D

"Soon, Christmas tree. SOOOOON." OMG, I scared the dog by laughing so hard at that!!

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterwildmaven

Mary Christmas to one and all. May all you cakes be irregular pentagons.

Blessings of the season to all Wreckers, Wreckees, Wreckaholics, and their loved ones. And a special Thanks! to Jen and John (thoj) for another wrecktastic year.

The corner cake is a display to show the inside. Merry Wreckmas!

I'm on the corner bandwagon too… weird.

Mare Egrets Moose!

I prefer to remain single, however; if I DO remarry, I will take your advice and marry Christmas. Thanks Cake Wrecks!!

Christine B. Thanks for solving the missing corner mystery.
Thanks to all the cakewrecks team for smiles all year long.

Marry Christmas, everyone! Or, alternatively, Happy Last Day Of Hanukkah!

My two princesses got an xBox to share; one of the characters on "Skylanders Trap Team" keeps hollering "Soda tastes good! Must drink more soda!" (He grows in power & size when he does)

Youngest started hollering back at him, "Soda is bad for your teeth! How you gonna keep those pearly whites, huh?"

They do crack me up :)

The spelling is pretty good today, but some of the usage is lacking. I think the snowman cupcakes are kind of cute. And marshmallows! Merry Christmas, everyone!

"10% off all Merry Christmas cakes" said the sign...So the wreckerator got their knife and started with the reindeer cake.

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMillie P

Just popping in with a Christmas decorating tip. Candy cane crumble is good. Chocolate crumble is good. Neither looks particularly spectacular, but they aren't really wrecky. If you mix them, however, you get the coveted zombie flesh look. I may revisit this during Easter when it's actually appropriate.

Marry Christmas (but don't let one of the bakers who created today's masterpieces do the cake for the wedding else we get a new entry for the Wedding Wrecks category.)

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJane

"all the people you mostly don't want to strangle." Isn't that the truth?
Happy Hanukkah or Merry Christmas everyone! Alternatively; just have a good night! ^_^

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterTifa

The first Christmas trees were hung upside down. Maybe that cake was harkening back to the old days.

Anyone else notice one of the contributors is Noell?

Merry Christmas, Jen and John!

December 25, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSaraV

I think the bakery of #6 need a visit from the workplace relations inspectors - clearly the staff are not being permitted any lunch breaks!

Merry Christmas, and happy penalty rates to anyone working today!

December 26, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAA

Merry Christmas!! Loved the cute reindeer cake til I noticed that a sneaky grinch stole a piece off the side lol. At least the deer looked like a deer. Could have been an insane clown if done by evil wreckerators.

December 26, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Those snowmen have marshmallows for heads! That makes them about 20 degrees cooler.

December 26, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterQue Sara Lee

So the reindeer cake is a display cake for show purposes. An as far as the Merry Christmas reindeer, tell the person who filled out the order form to fill it out correctly. Following simple instructions shouldn't be difficult.

Are those real glass lightbulb ornaments in the tree?! o.O

December 27, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterRae

I could be wrong... But I think the last cake actually says "Marry Christinas." It definitely looks like there's an I there.

December 27, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMariana

Sorry, but the display cake excuse still doesn't explain the icing over it, in my opinion. It is at least a display wreck then.

December 27, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterkt

Well it is a display cake and it is not iced on the side in the corner. You just can't see the cut out every well. It is designed to show the inside cake and filling. The border on top is to make it look finished. Go to any of your local Costco and you will see.

December 27, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSadie Brown

Awesome, Thank you :)

Rae:

Plastic seems more likely. Wouldn't it be lighter and stay stuck better than glass? Anyway, I think that tree's actually kind of cute. Though I also understand Santa being irritated that it won't light up. Holiday stress, doncha' know...

I hope everyone had some "Marry" on the 25th. ;)

December 28, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterms_xeno

I'm a few days late, but did anyone notice that on the upside cake, the r letters all appear to be rightside up?!
