What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Loki Here!

Thor's Hammer:

NAILED IT:

And for their next wreck, these bakers will turn the name "John" into "Thor!"

Not gonna lie: I'm kind of impressed.

Thanks to Jennifer R. & Kathy B. for assembling today's wreckage. And don't you worry, John; you shall be avenged.

I know someone named Jhon. Pronounced John, but spelled Jhon. So that last cake may not actually be a wreck.

I have no idea what that first one is supposed to be but Thor's hammer wouldn't even be my eleventy-seventh choice. o.O

I bet Luke was happy when he saw that cake. Guessing what the cake is supposed to be could be another party game. There are odd names out there so maybe there is someone named Jhon although it kinda looks more like Thon. Just might be me.

I'm changing my name to SbUee.

... And as if by magic, the Great Wreckerator transformed Thor's Hammer into Thor's Bu(NFSW!!!!)ug.

Maybe the cake is for "The Hubby of Natalie (or Nicole?)"

Protracted moment.

I am not entirely sure that the creative, if not incorrect, spelling on the last wreck is, in itself, what qualifies this cake as a wreck. Is that "Heppy Birthday" or "Hoppy Birthday?" Has it been in a minor fender-bender or small earthquake?

That dreaded CCC looks more like a bad attempt at an ice cream cone cake.

January 28, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterFuchsia70

this is what happens when bakers work when hammered.....

January 28, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermel

I'll bet when those customers saw these wrecks they sure were Thor.....

Lmao I took a wild guess before I saw the title of this post that it was supposed to be Thor's hammer..wow it must have been run over a few thousand times. Nice lol.

My nearly 3 year old grandson is named Thor Alan and he could ice a cake better than that wreakorator

What a lovely offering today, Haiku Joy! Thanks!

I'm sorry, but that's definitely a cockroach under a blanket. Sort of reminds me of Kafka.

Val, you beat me to it!
@mel & Sir Laffsalot - Giggle-SNORT!!! :-)

And this is why sometimes you request either the plastic flotsam or the edible photo image or just get a plain cake and do it yourself with some Thor toys from the toy store! :-)

With apologies to Pete Seeger... If I had a haaaam-mer, I'd hammer in the moooorrrr-ning, I'd hammer in the eeeevvvvvve-ning, all over this laaaaa-and. I'd hammer out BAD bakeries, I'd hammer out Wreck-er-ators, I'd hammer out love between the Wreckies and the Wreckers, all over this laaa-aand...

I had written a post about Pete Seeger with some bad lyrics too yesterday. Must have been lost in the CW ether.
Pete, we're thinking about you!

In the first baker's defense, they did order a ccc. I hope they learned their lesson and next year they will put plastic Thor rings on chocolate cupcakes and call it good.

There is actually a hotel chain in Norway called Thon, so they can have the cake... (http://www.thonhotels.no/)
