What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Six Tasteless Treats For Veterans Day

Ok, bakers, it's Veterans Day! And how do we respond to a national holiday honoring those who've served in the armed forces?

Bakers: With ABJECT TERROR!!

Noooooo...

And WORMS!

Ew! No!

And hashtags!

Now I'm just confused.

And LADY BUGS!

Confused... and mildly repulsed.

Bakers: And soldier-topped cupcakes!

Oh, well, that doesn't sound too ba... wait.

o.0

That's it, bakers; no more icing for you.

Bakers: AWWW!

Nope, I mean it! NO ICING. Yeah. Let's see you wreck anything NOW.

THAT WAS RHETORICAL PLEASE STOP.

Thanks to Alice D., Anony M., Laura R., Anony M., Elizabeth G., & Audrey T. for reminding us all to thank a veteran today... with pie.

To all who have served-thanks :D to the one who made the soldier topped cupcakes-are you f'n serious? Looks like a MASH hospital D: the worm cupcakes are gross, but since it's chocolate i'd still eat it O_o

To all who served-thanks :D to the person who made the soldier topped cupcakes-why would you WANT to give veterans PTSD D: i'd still eat the worm cupcakes-they are chocolate so it's ok O_o

Best way to honor Veterans: Terrified blue-haired people? Nope. Worms inserted into donuts so they look like little bombs? Nope. Misspelling the name of their country? Nope. Messy ladybugs that have nothing whatsoever to do with the holiday? Uh-uh.

The cookie was a nice try. But after all these wonderful men and women have given for our country, you would think the baker could at least exert enough effort to stick the picks INTO the cookie. A new definition of laziness.

Many heartfelt thanks to all our veterans and the sacrifices they've made to protect us and preserve our freedom.

Ooo, Sergeant Cupcake,
tell me about the Battle
of #merican Pie.

So surely the baker didn't think "GI laying in a pool of blood" on those cupcakes? Or are they over-iced donuts? Yikes.

What do worms have to do with veterans? I'm a veteran and I don't really go straight to worms when I think about my service time. I'm not sure I could even get there on a round about though process. Though I did gross out the entire bridge of two ships when discussing explosive diarrhea with another ship's medical officer over the coms one day.

Back to the OT... ;)

Thank you to all of the servicemen and women and their families who fight to keep us safe. We should definitely show our thanks with pie.
Those soldier cupcakes are just so very wrong on so many levels O.O

Dead Green Army Guys
Sprawled in pools of icing blood
Happy Veteran's Day!

(Okay, TECHNICALLY, the last line is one too many syllables, but given the way most people pronounce "VET-RAN", it works, so BITE ME. Ha).

God bless the ladybugs,
Red, white and goo.
Worms beside them,
(Don’t hide them!)
They are proud of our nation.
Are you?
From the plastic to the hashtags to the gummy soldiers (EW!)
God bless the piping bags
Of wreckers true.
God Bless the wreckers, Oh,
They wreck for you.

So does this mean you're going to start saying "Because #Merica" now?

November 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

Apparently the hashtag cake is correct. My teens tell me it's a "thing" now, a "redneck" way of saying I love "merica" like they can't pronounced it correctly.

Are those plastic soldiers? The look gummy.

I find myself transfixed by the soldier-topped cupcakes. Are those gummy soldiers by any chance? Please, please don't tell me if they're not. It only adds to the wrecktastic-ness by thinking of some baker thinking it is appropriate and in keeping with the spirit of Veteran's Day to allow kids to bite the heads off gummy soldiers. My head is spinning. I'm going to go lie down now.

Sung to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

I see a scared mustachioed man,
Worms in poo, worms in poo, will you do the face palm, no?
Hashtag and merica, very un american, to me!
Ladybug, (and confusion), ladybug, (and repulsion), ladybug, oh no.
These cakes all blow!
I'm just a soldier bleeding in the frosting
He's just a soldier from a poor bakery
Spare us our eyes from these monstrosities!

I was just looking at the comments on the CW fb page.
I had to come back here for a hug...

@Sandy - My new favorite song lyric is, "Worms in poo, worms in poo, will you do the face palm, no?" I was going to say that those worms are really pootriotic, but I was afraid the the fb people might hunt me down and hurt me.

@sandy: I loved your Bohemian Wrecksody! Here's the ending for you, in "tribute":

Is it wrong I love the first guy with the mustache?

November 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKathryn

I know what those first guys are terrified of: that someone's going to figure out they're wearing a blue shag carpet as a toupee.

November 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

Deeply disturbing. And yet, there are still the Vagina cakes so......

November 11, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSheilaMae

I don't think the #Merica one is a mistake. As someone else mentioned, this is a "thing" now, but usually spelled and pronounced "Murica"

November 12, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterkaisee

At least the soldiers on #6 appear to be gummy soldiers, not plastic toys. They would work if not for the poor placement of the red frosting.
