What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Ted, Shelly, Dana C., Amanda L., Colleen B., Stephanie, Jennifer D., & Dana C., I think the creepy tongue adds character. *Badumpbum* And in all fairness, that last one could be a really, really bad Princess Leia cake.

@ Haiku Joy: Domo arigato gozaimasu! I feel the same way about you -- although you've totally corrupted me and now I always count the syllables of every 3-line poem. It's not a "K" word, but I ran across one of my favorites the other day -- "ensorcelled" -- and thought of you and your students.

Cake number 4 reminded me of a girl I saw in college years ago -- she was actually that orange color she "tanned" so much -- really scary actually!

I won't even show these to my six year old.
The last one does look like ET in geisha! I'm diggin' it!
and the song was spot on. Thanks for the laugh as usual!

Lol and here I thought I was the only one to see happy buttday on that one cake. Sheesh. I still laughed til I cried. Man Mickey should go haunt these wreckerators dreams tonight just to exact his revenge.

I made a Mickey cake for my son's second birthday. Keep in mind that I am nowhere near a pro and had never made a cake with anything on it but frosting and "Happy Birthday" before that. And you know what? It blows all of these out of the water. People must be blind/drunk/otherwise impaired if they can't do better than this. Heart-shaped cakes? Really? REALLY?

Martian Mickey defies gravity: impressive!

@Sharyn,

Always lovely to be thought of and to be sent rushing to my dictionary in the same moment. If I had to choose a favorite, favorite word, it would be a hard call between defenestration, borborygmus, and penultimate, which my mentor has elaborated into pre-antepenultimate.

Those are all terrible Mickeys. The last one is obviously Wayne Newton... ;)

The 1st picture: "Happy Birthday AND Chriss." Was it supposed to be "Aunt Chriss?"
I love Cake Wrecks!

Am I the only one who sees "WOW Happy Butthday" on that second cake?
