I'm not a coffee drinker, but that biscotti looks pretty good. Biscotti is like cake, right? Cake that's been left out for a few days? Yeah, I'd still eat it. Don't judge me.

Though I'm not sure the sign was necessary. Wouldn't I assume it was cake whether it was a cake version of the cake or just the cake itself? I guess it could have been a sculpture. (And now I desperately want this as a sculpture.)

@ guest it's Sunday sweets every Sunday cakewrecks does some nice,beautiful and absoultley awe-inspiring cakes.
They actually make pans for the Oreo-esque cake! I own them, and I have made chocolate cake with Oreo pieces mixed in. Quite delicious, not to mention fun-looking!
I just have to wonder who the parents are that order these for a one year old's birthday. They are amazing, but as someone who has ordered more than the typical "Publix" cake in the past, I just can't see ordering something this elaborate for a one year old. Oh well, each to their own. Keep up the great work Jen!
You guys always have AMAZING Sunday Sweets. This week's is no exception to that statement. I love all the sweet treats cakes; all of them are so cute and look super duper delicious. I even starred this in Google Reader.
Maybe I should order one of these for my birthday next year. Now I really want ice cream...and it's only 10:30 in the morning here!!!

Re:"CAKE" sign on the Hostess cakes -
There are people out there who would expect those cakes to be creme-filled all through just like the originals, and would pitch a fit after they cut into one to discover that it was really all cake with the end decorated to look like it had creme filling.
Of course, such people probably won't believe the "CAKE" sign, but at least the baker tried to warn them.
That last cake really reminds me of the Fried Ham song....I don't remember all the words, but towards the end, there was a bit that went like this "and after the macaroni, we'll have PICKLES, ICE CREAM, and baloni, and more fried ham....fried ham fried ham fried ham!!!!!"
I was so excited to see this post today, Jen! Not only because it has gorgeous cakes (and it does) but because a paper crafting design team I'm on used the cupcakes as an inspiration photo a couple o weeks back! I made one of them out of paper. Less fattening. : )

I love this week's Sunday Sweets - but I'm all freaked out at the thought of what kind of parent spends that kind of money on such a cake for a one year old. Are these the people who get their one year old a pony as well? A French pony? That has been dyed purple? Perhaps I just need to eat some cake and stop fretting, yes?
This is my favorite Sunday Sweets ever! They are all just so cute!
I love the Sunday Sweets -- not only does it give my sides a little rest after laughing so hard all week, it's just nice to see some real decorating craftsmanship. These folks are artists. Oh, and can I get a plate of those cupcakes with the cherries and wafer pieces? Thanks.

I have eaten cake and pickles together. They actually taste good together, with the sweetness of the cake and the salty sour of the pickles balance nicely.
I do enjoy this web site, both on week days for the wrecks and Sundays for the Sweets.
Yay! These cakes were wonderful to see on my birthday! I'd really love to have that last one any day, though :D

The Hostess cakes and the 'sugar' theme and the eating stale cake thing make me think of Stephanie Plum. Have any of you read any of the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich? HYSTERIAL and snarky and sarcastic and laugh out loud on the bus funny...kind of like Cake Wrecks :) I highly reccomemend them!

Ok...so at first I was like 'these cakes are cool' BUT then I got to the hostess cakes and now I need a new keyboard cause I am pretty sure my globs of drool just ruined mine......That strawberry shortcake cake is AMAZING! So awesome and Strawberry on the bottom just makes it so heartwarming!!!

These are absolutely devine! Every one of these brings up a memory of a happy time. :) Now to address the pickles and cravings. Don't freak out people but my Mom would crave peanut butter, pickle and miracle whip sandwiches. And of course us children HAD to have what Mom was having so I will have one of these every few years or so. It totally hits the spot! Don't knock it till you try it! Make sure there is lots of each ingredient. No skimping. Now I date you to try one! :)
The pickles and ice cream cake just screams PREGNANCY to me. After all, isn't that what everyone says pregnant women eat. Or maybe that's just what I think since I'm almost 5 months pregnant. Haven't craved anything that weird yet though!

I am feeling sad seeing these first birthday cakes. So many baby's out there have more beautiful cakes than I a *mumble mumble* year old have ever gotten in my life!!! Can I get you to pull my husband aside when we come to the book tour and give him a few kind hints? Or at least a few bakery phone numbers?
The version of Fried Ham that I know is different:
Fried ham, fried ham, cheese and bologna, after the macaroni we'll have onions and pickles and peppers and then we'll have some more fried ham. FRIED HAM FRIED HAM!
Seems like my version needs a dessert of some kind... hmmm...

We held big 1st birthday parties for both our daughters. It was a celebration more for the parents that they made through the 1st year with the kid still intact! I am American, but I continually spell veterinary terms in the British fashion because I read "All Things Great And Small", "All Things Bright And Beautiful", "All Things Wise And Wonderful", and "The Lord God Made Them All", when I was fairly young. If you are not familiar with that series of books, is written by James Herriot, a British vet, and he naturally spells words in the British style. Often it was the first time I was seeing them, and that's how I learned them, so I figured that was the correct way. Most of the time I still do it that way. It drove some of my veterinary instructors wild.
GORGEOUS post today. I love cake and I love cake in the shape of cupcakes, cookies, ice cream, etc even more. Only thing I'm not a fan of seeing was the "oreo" cake. Used to work at Williams-Sonoma. Its not a bakery but a high-end cooking/baking supply store, normally found in a mall. The cake shown was (like e.grey kinda referenced) is just made from pour the cake batter in two cookie designed cake pans, put together by just putting frosting on one of the cakes and topping it with the other cake. Not much skill...cool looking but nothing special skill wise compared to all the other amazing cakes. ANYWAYS, great post! Check this site *everyday* and love it. :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these cakes! The cupcake houses are my fav, but it's hard to choose with so much amazing yumminess! (My spell checker does not believe yumminess is a word. My spellchecker clearly has not seen these cakes.) ^-^
Wow what gorgeous cakes! I love Sunday Sweets. It helps erase the past weeks wrecks and gets my mind nearly ready for the wrecks to come lol. And I too now want ice cream or at least a banana split!

I love how the creme on the Ding-Dong has some chocolate crumbs in it, just as it would if someone really bit into.
I love Sunday Sweets... It's nice to see some of us still know what we are doing.
on a side note: a biscotti is a twice baked cookie... it's baked first as a loaf, then cut into the ever so convenient lil sticks and baked again.
