What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

We are experiencing technical difficulties...

For some reason all non-Blogger account holders are having their comments deleted on the last few days' posts. We've just learned this is all Blogger's fault, so direct your ire accordingly. ;)

We're still working to see if it will be possible to recover the deleted comments, so if you have any information that might help, please let us know!

And for the rest of you: Please remain seated, and do not attempt to exit the car while it is in motion. Thank you.

Not exactly sure what's going on with the InterTubes today, but every single forum, blog, interactive site that I frequent is having problems. I am getting a lot of "We Are Experiencing Internal Server Errors" pages.

Hope you're on the mend soon, and that the Swine Flu hasn't jumped species into the INTERTUBES!! Oh, noes!

Can you hear me now? Oh wait. I AM on Blogger. I'm in. Obviously one of the cool kids, or something like that.

There should be a cake for that.

Wow, this whole swine flu/computer virus thing is hitting a whole new level.

It is a government conspiracy to take our mind off of buyouts, bail outs and boar flu. (couldn't break the alliteration with swine).

Or maybe it was Epcot related? (ducking for cover)

You shouldn't have thrown the Blogger servers in the lake with all those batteries.

May 1, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterselvig

Oooo fun. That's why my reader is so sparse today! Sigh, and I was hoping for a good laugh when I saw the title!

May 1, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKristine

Does this mysterious comment deletion have anything to do with the Epcot Center, now owned by Disney?

May 1, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterfranticallysimple

Things seem fine now.

Saw on twitter that you were experiencing difficulties, so I am sending this as a test comment so you will know everything is working properly.

Ugh....My cookies were disabled today, as well. Luckily I had a "pre-posted" post. I mean, I set it to post a few hours back. So far, no one has commented on anything weird.
I really hope that Cakewreck's server problems will cease soon. We need our daily dose of wrecks.
ET funny, our computer has been slow and SMILE.DK's site wasn't all too fast either.
THE SWINE FLUE HAS STRUCK THE ETHERNET!! (inhale, exhale...)

PS Praying for Wreckies to come back, Jen! :)

I'm getting the strange urge order an "This Cake is out of Order" cake for my pastor's birthday tomorrow...

May 1, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterVeggieT

And here I thought you were just deleting all the comments from people protesting the horses.

wv: utici = did utici that cake? It was such a wreck I wish I had my camera!

Wow! I cant Belive it! Swine Flu has TAKEN OVER!!!!!!!!! Who knows what will be infected next?

No, Seriously What WILL be infected Next?

May 1, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCHEEZEBURGER

Well, whatever it is, it can't be swine flu, because we aren't CALLING it that any longer--haven't you heard?
It is now referred to *simply* as "the H1N1 influenza virus". AND, it's actually a potpourri of human, swine, and bird flu viruses.
The pork people are crying fowl (hehheh) because it was coming out that folks were becoming afraid of eating chops. (!!!)
As far as server-problems-ceasing-soon (Hi, Jumpyham!), we'll just have to sit and see; we can while away the time thinking up more tongue-twisters...maybe get out some jump ropes?

I'm finding it quite interesting that I have apparently decided to comment on my own blog.... I know I'm online a bit obsessively, but do you suppose I've started commenting in my sleep?

May 1, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAngie

also potentially related (or not)... I haven't rec'd my daily email telling me that the new post is up in about 4 days!

May 1, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterWild Cakes

Well sucks to be anonymous then huh? :P

There WAS a cake for this post but it didn't have a blogger account and so was deleted :) It was gray and said "anymonous" on it.

May 1, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBilby P. Dalgyte

heh heh heh - it was really your way on cutting down Disney comments, right?

May 1, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSally

Here's hoping it will be "possibly" to recover the previous comments ;). You should put that on a cake :P

Thanks for making our days brighter!

Oh Jen, it's so awesome that you posted this.

I work for a newspaper owned by Gannett, the world's largest newspaper chain. There is a blog run by a former staffer called Gannett Blog, http://gannettblog.blogspot.com, who used to give great insider information on layoffs, furloughs, shareholder meetings and other company info.

But starting a day or so ago, he started freaking out that Corporate was waging a disinformation war against him, but posting comments and then deleting him to make it look like he was practicing censorship. (A big deal to newspaper types, not so much to others.)

The sheer paranoia almost made me nervous -- till I saw your post, and realized (as he failed to check; he even admitted he never contacted Google) that it was a Blogger-wide problem.

I've pasted the link to this post on as many entries on his blog as I can. And thanks for helping bring a little bit of sanity to my world, in addition to the daily laughs and butter-cream sweetness. :-)
