What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Chevron One, Wrecked!

For her birthday Jamie's friend ordered her a cake with a pretty chevron pattern on it, knowing how much Jamie liked the design.

Now, for those of you NOT on Pinterest, a chevron pattern looks like this:

I'm not sure which colors her friend requested, but I doubt it mattered anyway, since...

...the baker just put the Chevron gas station logo on it, instead.

Bwahahaa!

Thanks, Becky! That was a real gas!

And 10 geek points to anyone who caught my Stargate reference. ;)

The only thing I thought of with the title was Stargate...I didn't even know the "chevron" pattern...OR the logo, for that matter. Whoops.

Who would want a cake with a gas station log? I live in a town with a large Citgo refinery and one of our local cake shops had a photo of a Citgo cake for a retirement party. It was done very well with the 3D effect of the triangle shaded perfectly.
