What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Oh boy...

[breathing]

Okay, john... you don't have to vomit. You can get through this...

[sipping Pepto]

I mean sure, you shouldn't have looked at it but it's just a cake...

[pacing]

I mean, somebody ate it...

[gagging]
[sweating]
[tearing up]

Maybe if I just look at it again, I can get it over wi...

BLUARGARGARGURG!!!

Thanks to Sam H. for being such a toe-tally fungi.

Is it wrong that I think this cake looks well made and tasty?
I would totally eat it while admiring the skill obviously involved in making this cake.
It has the shape and colours of a really disgusting foot, but it's dry and smooth, making it edible and still tasty-looking. The baker could have added a lot more gore to this, but I'm lad she didn't.
Awesome job!

For the love of all things holy, WHY??? I don't care if you are a podiatrist and dealing with fungal-nails-compounded-by-recessed-toe disorder is your specialty. Who the heck wants to eat that?

Kudos to the baker for achieving realism, but Jiminy H. Cricket that thing is horrifyingly gross!!!

Ok the comments on this post have confirmed to me that my fever is not making me see things, I really did just look at a cake that looks like a diseased toe. Somehow I suddenly feel a lot more sick

April 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCharlotte

Eww. And so realistic, Possibly made for a podiatrist with a warped sense of humor? Or at least the creator had a warped sense of humor. Just eww.

April 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLugene

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURK

Okay, I'm better now. The grossest part, to me, is the lettering, which looks to be the color and consistency of pus. That is, no pun intended, the icing on the (nauseating) cake.

@ Haiku Joy: I put "`Twas brillig, and the slithy toes"

I didn't think it was Lewis Carroll to use slimy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toes
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the butt'r'cremes,
And the mome raths Fondantaines.

April 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterIsolder74

why has no one commented on that crazy toe?! sure the nails are diseased, but at least they are in the right spot...

April 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterannie

There are some things you can never un-see.

April 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJenn

OMG..are you for real???? I mean that it takes really mastership to create something like that..and as much as I love cakes, I can not even imagin tasting this one!! Did someone eat it for real??

April 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRemoval Services

Lol! I work at a pedicure spa, so I've seen my share of disgusting feet. Still though, I'm not sure I could eat any of the "toe" pieces... It's way too accurate!

April 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAnna

excellent job by a clearly talented baker!

April 27, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterliah

It was a birthday cake for a podiatrist! Complete with bunions, warts and fungal infections Mmm yummy. She does amazing work but this is just gross!

OH GAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

April 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEmma

Ah its DONE! wait...humans have 5 toes...I ONLY MADE 4...no time to redo it...lets just put it on top!

April 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMe

That is hilarious. To the baker's credit, the toenail is pretty realistic.
I don't envy whoever got that for their birthday. |:p

April 28, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterimadoctortrustme

Is the writing meant to look like pus? As gross as it is, it's a well executed nasty design cake :S

April 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

So I won't repeat the "OMG's" about the cake because it's a given. Thumbs up to John though, for the great Murloc imitation at the end of the post.

April 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterUpstate Southerner

Oh my! Why would someone want this ugly, funky, gross foot as a cake? They know you are suppose to enjoy cake right? Eww & what's with the slime?

May 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLisa

wtf it's a birthday cake?!

May 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRachel

I don't quite understand why anyone would want a foot cake, especially with hallux valgus deformity.. but to each there own.. I think the cake actually looks pretty cool, but still a bit gross!

May 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCandice

Oh god... I was looking forward to having some cake on my birthday next week... Now I don't think I want cake ever again. I. Hate. Feet.

May 22, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDana R

I actually just gagged..This cake is just so wrong...

My sister-in-law hates feet and gooey things. I think for her next birthday this will be her cake and it will have a pus green pudding filling that oozes out of the cut on the side of the foot. She will hate me (until she needs me to keep the kids) and I will be laughing so hard I'm sure I'll need to borrow the baby's (she's actually 2 and seriously needs to be potty trained) biapers (that's what she calls them). I actually sent this picture to my sister-in-law and it took her three hours to finally send me a very nasty message back because she gagged every time she opened the message to send me a message. Yes, smartphones that keep a running log are awesome!

July 15, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTammie

That isn't a Botero original?

For some twisted reason, I love this cake. Probably because so many people think it is disgusting. A podiatrist and their staff would have a great time eating this cake (but I probably would too). Celebrating in front of patients would be even better!

I want to see more of these!

August 8, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBallsy

The feet is the less absurd thing in this cake.. the most disturbing thing are the yellow toe nails and whatever is under the nails.. and overall who in the world would want to eat a feet for dessert.. disgusting

October 23, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCake Lover

Wow, has no one else ever had a toe cramp like this? Extremely painful...with or without fungi decorations!

October 25, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterovenbird

Yes, but these certainly are slimy toes . . .

October 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHaiku Joy

This one's a nasty..........................
In order to be fair though, we have to admit that the baker who decorated this cake surely has talent, patience and a stomach made of steel!

November 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGD

This is so gross! How could anyone eat it??!! Argh! It's a Birthday cake!

December 23, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterB.E.B

I think the cake is pretty neat. What a cool baker to so something so interesting.
Did anyone else think hat he second toe looked added on after the fact? It looks just stuck on the tip like they slipped up and made 4 toes so they decided since lots of people have weird second toes they'd just stick it on like it grows out of the top of your foot? Is that seriously a disorder. I've never seen it before, not that I look at a lot of feet but it is weird. But maybe it is a condition. My husband has sideways pinky toes and my sweet son inherited them as well. Their pinkes lay on their sides. It's very strange.

December 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBra

I know the person who has that foot!

December 31, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterllh

OMG! You make me LOL so hard!

January 1, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJennifer

I call the top toe.

February 19, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAgashebuzz

It looks like the baker forgot a toe on the cake and just added another one
